Environmental Concerns The Trust for Public Land - The Trust for Public Land conserves land for people to improve the quality of life in communities and to protect natural and historic resources for future generations. If you are into conservation and interested in different environmental organizations, the Other Web Sites page is a great starting point in linking those sites. Florida Sustainable Communities Center - Everything you ever wanted to know about sustainability. Gives information, books, documents, definitions, etc. A great source. The Nature Conservancy - The Nature Conservancy defends vast stretches of wetlands, rain forests, prairies, beaches and other endangered habitats. Their mission is to preserve plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and water they need to survive. National Audubon Society - The National Audubon Society conserves and restores natural ecosystems, focusing on birds and other wildlife for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity. Wildlife and Defenders - This site has topics as conservation programs for wolves, bears, birds and refuges, endangered species learning center, wolf updates and how you can help. Southern Florida Wildlife Rehab Center - Dedicated to the care, medical needs and housing of abused and injured animals. Specializes in large cats (cougars, lions, leopards, etc). Located in Homestead, Florida. Miami Metro Zoo - Our County zoo. It's nice to go to a zoo where you really feel like the animals are treated well and aren't caged up. My favorite part of the zoo is the Cat exhibit. They have the most beautiful white lions. They are still updating because they really got wiped out from Hurricane Andrew in '93. At this site you can link through to the Zoological Society of Florida.
